Flooding in the kitchen?

6/27/2023 (Permalink)

While a small puddle under your refrigerator may look minimal as a melted ice cube, it is very important to investigate the issue to ensure your appliance isn’t damaged. There are plenty of ways to help prevent it from occurring though.

  • Make sure your fridge is flat and not tilted, when tilted it prevents the water from draining correctly.
  • Regularly check for clogs in the defrost drain or ice maker lines.
  • Clean your water dispenser once a month to prevent any build up.
  • Consider getting a water sensor, it sounds an alarm when water touches it. They can be set up in multiple places around your kitchen.
  • Regularly check for leaks in the water lines.
  • Make sure your freezer seal is intact and the door closes properly. Poor seals can cause the freezer to melt and leak out.

These few tips can help to prevent any leaks in your kitchen caused by your refrigerator. However, even when using preventative measures water damage can still occur. If water damage causes damage to your home, call our team at SERVPRO of Tacoma at 253-896-3000 to help get your home back to normal.
